Canon Pixma MX920/MX922 Review -  Free Download Driver
A close cousin to the Canon Pixma MX522 Wireless Office All-In-One Printer Top Price at Amazon, the Canon Pixma MX922 Wireless Office All-In-One Printer$173.90 at Amazon offers all of the attributes that makes the MX522 worth contemplating, plus enough extra--including better picture quality, the capacity to print on optical discs, plus a higher paper capacity--to make it far more appealing as a home printer or in the double function of house and home office printer, and more acceptable for sharing at a micro office. More than that, it offers enough extra to make this inkjet MFP an Editors' Choice.

Like the Canon MX522, the MX922 can print and fax from, in addition to scan to, a PC; it can work as a standalone copier and facsimile machine; and it can both scan into and publish out of a USB key, with the ability to preview pictures on its own three-inch color LCD. It also provides both Ethernet and Wi-Fi service, a duplexer (for two-sided printing), and also both a letter size flatbed and an automatic document feeder (ADF) for scanning.

One small extra for the Canon Pixma MX922 compared using the Canon MX522 is that its ADF offers a little greater ability, at 35 pages. More important, it adds the capability to scan in duplexby turning the webpage to scan the next side. Menu commands let it work in combination with duplex printing to copy both single- and - double-sided originals for your choice of single- or copies

Wi-Fi and ethernet link options allow you to share the printer easily on a community. Unlike the Canon MX522, however, the MX922 provides enough paper capacity, at 250 sheets, to ensure it is practical to share in a standard micro office without having to constantly refill the menu. In addition, another photo paper , for as much as 20 sheets of 4-by-6-inch photo paper, lets you switch between printing photographs and print on plain paper without needing to swap out the paper from the tray.

Support for mobile printing includes printing through the printing and cloud with AirPrint. Note that to use AirPrint, both the printer along with your phone or tablet computer must join through a Wi-Fi access point in your system, instead of connecting directly to each other.

Setup, Rate, and Output Quality

Preparing the Canon pixma MX922 onto a system was absolutely standard for a inkjet MFP. For my tests, I used a Ethernet connection and also installed the drivers and applications on a Windows Vista program.

Printing speed is your MX922's Achilles' heel. It came in on our business applications suite (using QualityLogic's hardware and software for timing) at a lackadaisical 2.4 pages per minute (ppm). That makes it just a bit quicker than the cheaper Canon MX522, at 2.1 ppm, also substantially slower than some range of similarly-priced printers, including, as an instance, the Editors' Choice Epson WorkForce WF-3540$511.49 in Amazon, in 4.5 ppm.

Partly making up for the slow pace for business applications is its own fairly fast speed for photographs, with a 1 minute 5 second average for printing a 4 . That's actually a touch quicker than the WF-3540, at 1:12.

The fantastic thing is that the MX922's output does even more than a lengthy list of features to make up for any shortcomings in rate. Graphics quality in my tests was in the very low end of par, but text quality was only a step below the top tier for inkjets, and photo quality was in the upper tier for low-cost inkjets.

Though I would not use the text output to get a resume or serious desktop publishing software, it's easily good enough for most business requirements. Graphics output, similarly, is much more than adequate for any internal company demand. Based on how important an eye you have, you can also consider it good enough to PowerPoint handouts and the like.

Photographs are a step above everything I expect from the very best pharmacy prints, making them much better than most inkjets could manage. For better picture output, you would need to go up to much more costly versions aimed at specialist and near-professional photographers and graphic artists.

If you publish enough pages to ensure fast rate is an absolute necessity, you're going to want to appear elsewhere. More significant, its output quality, paper capability, and lengthy list of MFP features--from your duplexing ADF, to the capability to print on optical discs, to the capability to print out or scan to some USB key--is, for many people, more than compensate for its relatively pokey rate.
