HP Officejet 4630 e-All-in-One Printer series Review - Free Download Driver
As a budget inkjet multifunction printer (MFP) geared to house workplaces, the HP Officejet 4630 e-All-in-One includes a solid if not splashy set of MFP features. It offers good overall output quality, though it was comparatively slow, also showed a inclination to rapidly run through color ink.

The HP OFFICEJET 4630 will print, copy, scan, and fax. It can act as a standalone copier. It's a 35-page automatic document feeder (ADF) for copying, scanning, or even faxing multipage files unattended. It has a 100-sheet paper tray, small by home-office criteria, and an auto-duplexer for printing on either side of a sheet of paper.

The glossy black 4630 steps 7.4 from 17.6 from 21.6 (HWD), little enough to find space for on many desks, and weighs 13.7 lbs. Front panel holds a non-touch monochrome display with Home, Back, OKup and down arrow controllers, an alphanumeric keypad, and switches for both Wi-Fi, ePrint, and Assist, plus the on/off switch.

Mobile Printing Features

The 4630 can link to your computer via a USB cable (I tested it over a USB connection) or to a network through Wi-Fi. EPrint is a HP service that specifies an email address to the printer so you can print out files simply by emailing them into the printer. It supports Wi-Fi printing from portable devices, as well as HP's Wireless Direct Print, which lets you walk until the printer and then print out of a tablet or smartphone even if not linked to your Wi-Fi network. HP Printables offers news, crossword puzzles, family activities, couponsand more for download over Wi-Fi for printout.

Printing Rate

We do not expect blazing speed in the budget , and with all the 4630, we didn't get it. I timed it on our business applications suite (using QualityLogic's hardware and software for timing), in a successful 2 pages per minute (ppm), slow because of its cost but not remarkably so. The Canon

The 4630's general output quality was great, with average text quality for the inkjet, graphics quality in the high side of average, and average photo quality. Text has been good enough for many home and business uses; I would draw on the line with resumes or formal documents with which you are attempting to create a great visual impression.

With graphics, colours generally were well saturated. Several images revealed moderate banding (a regular pattern of poor striations), and several demonstrated dithering (graininess). Graphics should be great enough for PowerPoint handouts; whether you'd donate them to a client you were attempting to impress depends on how picky you are.

Pictures have been of average grade for an inkjet, about that of drugstore prints. Colors were generally good, although a monochrome photo showed a slight tint. There was a reduction of detail in some bright places. 1 picture showed posterization--a trend for abrupt shifts in color at the place where they need to be slow.

Ink Issues

One issue that I ran in in testing is that the printer faked to operate low on color ink, with notably poor print quality, relatively fast, in spite of the biggest power capsules. This exact same issue occurred using two test printers; I'd asked the next unit since I was worried an problem with the printer could be causing this; yet there was no difference with the instant.

The 4630 uses one cartridge for black while another cartridge unites cyan, magenta, and yellow, meaning that you can't replace the respective colours when one colour runs low. Some other lower-priced printers utilize similar systems, but it is quite infrequent that a printer can not make it through our current test suite without running out of ink. This shouldn't be an problem with text or monochrome graphics, but may be if you publish a whole lot of color graphics or photos.

1 thing which could mitigate ink prices is that the 4630 is among the primary printers to be contained from the HP Instant Ink software, where customers receive ink for a specific rate based on the amount of pages they print (there are 3 degrees: $2.99 per month for 50 pages, $4.99 for 100 pages, and $9.99 for 300 pages; additional pages can be obtained, and fresh pages rolled over). New cartridges are delivered direct to the user. It has the capacity to offer substantial ink savings to customers with compatible printers; how well it functions in practice has yet to be seen.

Though best to be used in a house office, the 4630 may also be used for light-duty home usage. The single cartridge for most of 3 colours may be a disadvantage, however, if you print a good deal of photos.

For $50 more than you would pay for the HP OFFICEJET 4630, the Editors Choice Brother MFC-J870DW provides the auto-duplexer, in addition to some other features like Ethernet and NFC (near-field phoning ), which permits you to print from a compatible device by simply tapping the printer. It was even faster than the MFC-J430w. However, the HP Officejet 4630 e-All-in-One Printer combines a good set of home-office MFP features and great output quality at a really modest price.

The 4630 has similar attributes and speed into the Canon Pixma MX392; the Canon lacks an auto-duplexer. The 4630 has marginally greater output quality for photos and text.

The HP Officejet 4630 e-All-in-One Printer really isn't the fastest printer in your block, but comes with a good set of features to get a budget home-office MFP, and great output quality. The Editors' Choice Brother MFC-J430w zipped during our enterprise printing evaluations in under half the time as the 4630. It does not possess the array of portable printing characteristics of this HP, and it lacks an auto-duplexer, so if these features are important for you, the 4630 could become your printer of choice, regardless of its considerably slower speed. We had been worried about the rate of ink consumption for color printing we mentioned in our testing, even although registration in the HP Instant Ink app has the capability to reduce ink costs.
